'Wonder Woman' of the Day: Yaya Han

Today's 'Wonder Woman' of the Day might look familiar. Yaya Han is a gorgeous model, talented costume designer, and a cosplay superstar that we've profiled before. She travels the world visiting anime and comic book conventions as a cosplay guest, vendor and/or exhibitor. The busy beauty specializes in taking strong female characters from the worlds of sci-fi, comic books, and fantasy and brings them to life with her passionate costume making. Han has taken the iconic Wonder Woman and added a fresh cosplay twist.

She chose Wonder Woman from DC Comic's line of collectible figures known as the Ame-Comi Heroine Series. The line expresses a more anime influenced look with different attire from the traditional costumes. This one in particular has Diana of Themyscira in gladiator mode complete with sword and shield. An outfit fit for an Amazon Princess. This was a refreshing choice by Han. While so many cosplayers choose the traditional WW costume this one really highlights the range of possibilities for such a legendary character.

Why I chose to make this costume:
I've wanted to cosplay one of the Ame-Comi figures ever since they came out. I thought it was a great idea to re-interpret some of the DC Comics characters in anime style and come up with new designs for them. The Wonder Woman and Poison Ivy designs are my absolute favorites and since I didn't want to paint myself green for a busy weekend at Dragoncon, I decided to make Wonder Woman. I am so happy this got done in time for the event - it is my first DC Comics costume, too!
With so many costumes under her belt she continues to impress with her new designs and craftsmanship.
