REVIEW
Yes, I know this book has been out a few weeks and theres more current stuff being released today. The solid work of Brian Wood on 'Star Wars' continues in  issue #7 for example. DC and Geoff Johns sets 'Trinity War' in motion in 'Justice League' #22 as well as a new 'East of West' and 'Helheim' come out today. With all that said, Azzarello's 100 Bullets spin-off is too great to ignore and is our Hot Pick today.

You don't have to be familiar with '100 Bullets' to enjoy 'Brother Lono' but I would encourage you to read it anyway as it's incredibly addictive. The same dark themes and violence melt into this limited series with outstanding art from Risso. Shadows and staging of scenes are expertly done. Sometimes the tension is built on subtle silhouettes then starkly exposed in a bloody reveal. Azzarello knows this character and this world so well the exposition and dialogue flow without a moment of awkwardness or hesitation. He's in his wheelhouse. It's for mature readers for good reason. Violence and language are part of the package. 'Brother Lono' is a gritty and exciting book worth adding to your pull list.
