Is Lex Luthor a Tatted-up, Gang Banger Turned Brilliant Billionaire Bad Boy in 'Batman vs Superman'?

New Report Sheds Light on Luthor's Role in the Man of Steel Sequel if Details Survive Current Rewrite
Photoshopping not our strong point. Apologies.
Step right up, ladies and gentlemen! Come on in to the 'Batman vs Superman' Hall of Rumors where nothing is quite what it seems. You'll be fascinated, enraged, puzzled and thoroughly frustrated and/or pleased. The good folks at Latino Review have been busy digging around for more details about the Man of Steel sequel, commonly known as 'Batman vs Superman', and their latest report has some very interesting plot descriptions and what Lex Luthor's role is in the movie. The casting of Jesse Eisenberg may not seem as such a shock after reading what they have in store for his character.

As with any rumored report we trust by now that we all take it as merely rumor and nothing else until there is confirmation. Sites like LR have been more accurate than not so we're comfortable spreading the news. The following are highlights of what could be plot details and a character description of Luthor IF they aren't changed with new screenwriter Chris Terrio on board. SPOILERS if true so consider yourselves warned.

  • Lex Luthor is bald. Eisenberg's curly locks will not grace the big screen.
  • Luthor is a self-made billionaire at age 18 and CEO of LexCorp, obviously.
  • Living on the streets at age 14 he joins a gang only to run it at age 15.
  • This version of Luthor also has tattoos. One in particular is a "detailed sleeve tattoo of the Metropolis skyline on his right arm".
  • Bruce Wayne meets with Luthor to discuss partnering companies to help rebuild Metropolis after the destruction left behind from Superman's fight with Zod.
  • The brilliant self-made Metropolis street thug turned billionaire isn't a fan of Wayne's silver spoon pedigree but joins forces anyway.
  • Luthor sees Superman as an unwanted alien that can be stopped while Wayne sees him as a possible force for good and peace.
So there you have it and it all sounds possible. Luthor could speak for the faction of fans who rage online about the dastardly way Superman behaved in the first film causing all that destruction and death. A theory that has floated around forums for awhile and could serve as enough motivation for Luthor to put a stop to the Man of Steel. It could also motivate Batman to help Superman harness his powers for fighting evil and bringing justice to Metropolis and beyond.

Luthor as a street tough with a brilliant conniving mind and natural leadership skills is certainly plausible although it is hard at this point to imagine Eisenberg in that role. He's a good enough actor to pull it off given a proper script and a physical fitness regimen. LR described Luthor's motto as "Strength isn't everything. Resolve is" so he wouldn't need to be buffed out completely because with his intellect he could have others do his dirty work for him. If these details play out it will certainly be a Lex Luthor we haven't seen on the big screen before and that's a good thing.
