"This Constantine, envisioned by [director] Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics’', is how executive producer David S. Goyer (Da Vinci's Demons, Man of Steel, Batman Begins) described his NBC series based on the DC Comics/Vertigo character and this image proves him right. The trench coat, unkempt hair, five o'clock shadow and loosened tie was true to form as the series begins shooting this week.
The show described as "a man struggling with his faith is haunted by the sins of his past but is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness" also stars Lucy Griffiths, Harold Perrineau, and Charles Halford with a pilot script from Goyer and Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist). The pilot has some considerable talent in front and behind the camera and with the release of this image has helped drive some buzz their way as other DC Comics based shows are drawing more attention like the CW hit Arrow, Fox's Batman prequel Gotham and the recent image release of Grant Gustin in costume as CW's Flash.
Some set photos emerged from a site dedicated to the memory of Sarah Jones, who tragically lost her life while filming a movie in Georgia, with the cast and crew around clapboards emblazoned with "We Love You Sarah". Slates for Sarah stands as a memorial to her and as a reminder of the importance of set safety. The site has similar pictures from production sets from all over the world with slates dedicated to Sarah.
