New 'Gotham' Set Photos Capture Young Selina Kyle in Action

Some more set photos from Fox's Batman prequel Gotham have emerged and this time they feature dancer-actress Camren Bicondova as the future Catwoman, Selina Kyle. The young newcomer is captured escaping on a fire escape with some loot presumably and posing with young Bruce Wayne, Touch-actor David Mazouz. Already clad in black leather, Kyle is apparently honing her burglary skills on a show that will keep Detectives Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) busy with the rising wave of crime and corruption in Gotham City.

So far from interviews with showrunners and stars and other set photos the show appears to take a page from Batman Begins when Gotham City was seen as a hopeless crime-ridden urban wasteland run by gangsters and corrupt cops. As described by Fox, Gotham will deal with the emergence of famous Batman villains like Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler and reportedly the Joker as well in the early days when Bruce Wayne was just a child.

This Batman show without the Batman seems to at least be well produced with Bruno Heller from The Mentalist at the helm and casting has been solid. Fans who were skeptical before are starting to come around based on set photos like these. It still remains to be seen if general audiences will be as enamored with this version of Gotham City as fans potentially will be but this realistic hard-boiled approach might work. Arrow on CW has been a huge hit with a similar tone and it features multiple characters from DC Comics to the satisfaction of long-time fans. It should work for Gotham.
