COMIC BOOK DAY: Today's Pull List 4/2

Another light week for me but there are some notable new titles worth a look. Most notable is Max Brooks (World War Z) and his graphic novel about the riveting story of the highly decorated, barrier-breaking, historic black regiment—The Harlem Hellfighters. Since being enthralled by this courageous group of fighters at age 11 and many failed screenplays years later Brooks took to the graphic novel as the medium to bring his vision to light. Aided by illustrator Canaan White, they tell the incredible journey of the 369th infantry regiment from stateside to the battle fields of World War I.

Also debuting this week is Marvel's Inhuman that deals with the fallout from Infinity and Inhumanity launching some new heroes into the NOW universe. A couple of indies also making their premiere with characters that are suffering some kind of amnesia, The Field from Image and Dead Letters from Boom. DC Comics is introducing a new Aquaman title and Detective Comics ushers in a new creative team.

Lastly, one of my favorite books on my pull list is Jeff Lemire's Trillium. I recommend anyone who likes time-traveling sci-fi love stories to grab these issues or a trade. It's one of the best written titles on the market. Lemire has an obvious passion for these characters, one from 1920's England and the other from 2000 years in the future, who have crossed timelines and meet only to be torn apart and fight to meet again.

The Harlem Hellfighters
by Max Brooks and Canaan White
In 1919, the 369th infantry regiment marched home triumphantly from World War I. They had spent more time in combat than any other American unit, never losing a foot of ground to the enemy, or a man to capture, and winning countless decorations. Though they returned as heroes, this African American unit faced tremendous discrimination, even from their own government. The Harlem Hellfighters, as the Germans called them, fought courageously on—and off—the battlefield to make Europe, and America, safe for democracy.
In THE HARLEM HELLFIGHTERS, bestselling author Max Brooks and acclaimed illustrator Caanan White bring this history to life. From the enlistment lines in Harlem to the training camp at Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the trenches in France, they tell the heroic story of the 369th in an action-packed and powerful tale of honor and heart.
