Another week for some quality reads at your local comic book shop. Elektra #1 is getting some great buzz from reviewers for its dynamic art and exciting bloody action. A good chance to get on this new ongoing Marvel series from W. Haden Blackman and Michael Del Mundo.
A couple of titles I've reviewed, The Massive #22 and Mind MGMT #21 from Dark Horse Comics represents the publishers stable of incredible talent and unique vision in storytelling. Brian Wood's The Massive begins a new 3-part arc where a caravan of tankers hauling an invaluable commodity must make their trek across the desert among thieves, pirates and cutthroats. Matt Kindt's Mind MGMT is a surreal trip that needs to be taken in whole so trades are highly recommended to capture the full scope of his world of psychics and spies.
Conan the Avenger #1 starts another adventure for the barbarian from Fred Van Lente and Brian Ching at Dark Horse Comics. He's drawn into the middle of a battle between ruling parties and things get creepy and very supernatural.
As we bid adieu to the Justice League of America, DC Comics and Jeff Lemire are ushering in the Justice League Canada United #0. Adam Strange, Supergirl, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Stargirl, Martian Manhunter and Animal Man will be stationed in Canada and split their time and adventures between the Great White North and the cosmos. It should make for some interesting expanded storylines with a growing list of members including a native Cree heroine to be introduced later.
There are certainly more excellent books out there but you know that already. Go get them. Happy reading!
