COMIC BOOK Pull List: Shutter, Deadpool, Batman Eternal, Lumberjanes, and More


This week's offerings at your local comic book store and digitally are pretty eclectic and fresh. Let's start with the newly certified Guinness World Record holder for most comic book characters on a single cover, Deadpool #27. The Merc with a Mouth ties the knot in front of 232 familiar guests in the special oversized issue featuring a story from regular scribes, Gerry Duggan & Brian Posehn as well as nine previous writers from Deadpool history Fabian Nicieza, Mark Waid, Joe Kelly, Christopher Priest, Jimmy Palmiotti, Frank Tieri, Gail Simone, Daniel Way and Victor Gischler. 


Batman Eternal #1 features an impressive list of creative talent including Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Ray Fawkes, John Layman, Tim Seeley, Jason Fabok, Dustin Nguyen, and more for this new weekly series where Batman and Commissioner Gordon are at odds while Gotham City is in turmoil. Certainly will be an exciting run for any Batman fan who doesn't mind shelling out $3 every week. 

Fresh from the news of it being picked up by Warner Bros. to be adapted into a feature film, FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics by Simon Oliver and Robbi Rodriguez ushers in issue #9. David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) is set to produce while Justin Marks will be writing the screenplay of the Vertigo Comics strange science series. 

All-New Ghost Rider #2 continues with the newly transformed Spirit of Vengeance Robbie Reyes in his muscle car from hell. Boom Studios new imprint Boom Box delivers a rollicking good time with Lumberjanes #1. It's described as "Buffy meets Gravity Falls" as five teenage girls battle monsters while at camp. Image Comics has another exciting new title Shutter #1 by Leila del Luca and Joe Keatinge "in an all-new ongoing series combining the urban fantasy of Fables and the globe-spanning adventure of Y: The Last Man." Find out how the titled characters of Superman/Wonder Woman survived a nuclear blast and what they'll do now that Doomsday has awakened in issue #7 from DC Comics.
