'Justice League' Movie Finally Confirmed to Follow 'Batman vs. Superman', Snyder to Direct

After months and years of speculation there is finally confirmation that a 'Justice League' movie is planned after 'Batman vs. Superman' and Zack Snyder is directing. This comes directly from Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman as he told Wall Street Journal's Ben Fritz:

“It will be a further expansion of this universe,” said Mr. Silverman. “’Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’”
Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot will return to reprise their roles as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman respectively. Now with the newly rumored Ray Fisher being cast as Victor Stone who becomes Justice Leaguer Cyborg to appear, in a cameo most likely, in the Man of Steel sequel it certainly appears that the pieces are being put in place for the team-up.

Questions still remain about who else will join the League but the obvious choices are Aquaman, Green Lantern (John Stewart?), Flash and Martian Manhunter. With Dwayne Johnson signed to do a DC project and Jason Momoa rumored once again to be a part of MOS2 things could be moving along in time to not only present cameos that set the stage for the Justice League movie but film back-to-back for a sooner than expected release.

No release date was given and the script is in development but Latino Review just reported that their source has a May 5, 2017 opening. This would be in line with their earlier report this year that MOS2 and JL would film consecutively in order to meet that timeline. This is still a rumor but certainly WB is pushing full speed ahead to get these films made and slotted for release.

The most disheartening news was that there are no plans for a Wonder Woman solo film but that could change.
“That is our hope,” said Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing. “With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”
We'll continue to hold our breath.  In the meantime, it is great to finally have confirmation that we'll see DC Comics greatest heroes finally grace the big screen together in live-action.
