Scarlett Johansson is Luc Besson's Next Action Hero in 'Lucy' (Video)

The name Luc Besson is synonymous with action thrillers. The French writer/director is responsible for films like Leon: The Professional, The Transporter, Taken, The Fifth Element among others. What distinguishes Besson from others in the genre is his inclusion of bad-ass female protagonists who are equally capable to unload a 30 round clip on a cadre of bad guys as any male lead. Anne Parillaud (La Femme Nikita), Zoe Saldana (Colombiana), Penelope Cruz & Salma Hayek (Bandidas), Milla Jovovich (The Messenger: The Story of Joan Arc) have all had top billing in those action pictures. 

Besson's latest muse is Scarlett Johansson. She is no stranger to action either as she's currently playing super spy Black Widow for a third time in Marvel Studios' latest superhero adventure, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In Lucy, Johansson plays a drug mule who acquires super powers from the drugs embedded in her body. Her mind is super charged giving her the abilities to learn at an accelerated rate, telekinesis, and seemingly manipulate reality. The first action-packed trailer has been released and if Black Widow doesn't get the solo film she deserves then we'll have to settle for this. Which may not be settling at all. Enjoy.
