Lara Croft is Back with 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' Video Game Trailer

Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced at E3 from Crystal Dynamics today and it looks like the Lara Croft is enjoying a rebirth both in the medium she originated from to the printed pages on which the story for the game emerges from.

A trailer was released with Croft in an uncomfortable therapy session inter-cut with scenes of what she does best - running, jumping, firing arrows and treasure hunting. The Tomb Raider comic book written by prolific writer Gail Simone for Dark Horse Comics provides the foundation for the storyline of the new game scheduled for release "Holiday 2015" (whatever that means).  

Since the first release of the Tomb Raider game in 1996 Lara Croft remains a popular character through her different iterations in games, movies, and comic books. Her evolution has grown up with darker stories and more emphasis on action-adventure and less on cheesecake. Having an engrossing game with superior gameplay should only help Croft remain relevant. Let's hope that's the case when the game is released.
