'Sabrina' Gets a Horror Make-Over in New Mature Series from Archie Comics

Issue #1 - Cover A

Hot off the critical and commercial success of Afterlife with Archie, think The Walking Dead set in Riverdale, Archie Comics has provided more details about the new Sabrina series taking the same tone in October.
"This October I'm launching a second book which is kind of a companion book to 'Afterlife,' also horror, which is a Sabrina book. That's gonna be, in a way, I think, even darker than 'Afterlife with Archie.' 'Afterlife with Archie' kind of usually has a good sense of humor about it, like a Sam Raimi kind of tongue in cheek -- the Sabrina book is very dark. It's a period book, it's set in the '60s, which is when Sabrina first came out; it was in her heyday." - Archie Comics CCO and writer Robert Aguirre-Sacasa told CBR
Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Robert Hack will be taking a similar approach they've taken with Afterlife by re-imagining a long-standing nostalgic icon of harmless fun and placing it in an exhilarating and thrilling universe for older readers. Sabrina the Teenage Witch has been a familiar kid favorite since her debut in 1962 that grew into successful live-action and animated shows. There's no doubt that fans will be pulling for her as she tackles some menacing supernatural forces like she's never faced before.
