Saturdays at San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H are made for big announcements and Warner Bros. wasted no time to get things started as Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder took the stage after some images of some very Frank Miller-esque concept art was displayed on the massive screens and introduced the teaser footage.
A heavily armored, TDKR-looking Batman stands on a rooftop, eyes turn white and then proceeds to remove a tarp revealing the bat-signal. As the camera traces upward following the beam of light Superman emerges, hovering in the sky looking none too happy. His eyes begin to brighten red with heat vision as he stares at the Dark Knight. Cue the title card. The end.
Whoa.
At that point Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot come on stage to roaring applause.
Now posters of DC's Trinity are displayed on the monitors including one we haven't seen before - Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Looking every bit of an Amazon warrior in battle gear holding a sword. This should appease some skeptical fans about Gadot playing the part. She looks fierce and battle ready in a costume that pays homage to the traditional comic book costume with the eagle extended across her breast plate, bracelet cuffs and a subdued headband. An impressive piece of design from Colleen Atwood. Gadot is Wonder Woman!
And that was it. Brief but exciting for a film still in production and two years to go. Next year should reveal a ton more as the premiere date of May 6, 2016 gets closer.
