2014 Eisner Award Winners
Amid the frenzy over the weekend the people who put the "comic" in the San Diego Comic-Con were honored at the 2014 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. Not many surprises as the beloved Saga (Image) won for Best Continuing Series, Best Writer (Brian K. Vaughan) and Best Painter/Multimedia Artist -Int Art (Fiona Staples). Hawkeye (Marvel) was rewarded for their groundbreaking Issue #11, "Pizza is My Business," and Best Cover Artist (David Aja).
Legendary independent writers/artists, the Hernandez Brothers, came away winners independently of course. Gilbert Hernandez won for Best Short Story and Jaime Hernandez was named Best Writer/Artist. Best New Series went to another popular title, Sex Criminals (Image) by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky. The night belonged to publisher IDW with the most wins at six.
