Phil Noto's Cover for Sleepy Hollow #1 |
The teases at BOOM! Studios finally revealed details about that image they dropped on Twitter that inferred a Sleepy Hollow comic book. CBR got the exclusive and the Fox series will indeed get a 4-issue miniseries beginning on October 15 written by Marguerite Bennett with art by Jorge Coelho.
Also on board for backup stories and art is Noelle Stevenson (Lumberjanes). The all-new stories will feature characters from the first year supernatural hit show. As in the reimagining of Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow on the television series the comic book will also deal with magic and myth according to Bennett.
The comics take place at different parts of the series. The first two comics are each standalone, self-contained single issues, while the third and fourth will be our two-part finale, so to speak. The first issue takes place early in the season and is a story of magic, the second is in the middle and is a story of myth, and the third and fourth are close to the end, and are the story of a machine.
The adventures of a Colonial soldier, Ichabod Crane, who awakens in modern times only to find himself threatened by the Headless Horseman and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse makes for great comic book material. Here's hoping the great chemistry with his partner Detective Abbie Mills translates to the page.
Sleepy Hollow #1 debuts on October 15 while Season 2 of the show premieres on September 22 on Fox television.
