Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is bringing the legendary Avenger, Mockingbird, to the small screen as promised at SDCC and have cast Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Wonder Woman) to be the newest addition for season two. She'll play Bobbi Morse and appear in the fifth episode.
In the comics, Morse was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent then later an Avenger taking the name of Mockingbird. She'd eventually marry Hawkeye aka Clint Barton and help lead the West Coast Avengers for a time. A relationship between the movie Hawkeye and the television Mockingbird could, in theory, happen in the much ballyhooed shared Marvel Cinematic Universe but it's unlikely. [Editor's note: on a strictly selfish level I would love to see them together on screen.]
Palicki joins a growing roster of new guest stars for the sophomore season that finds the team trying to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier left them decimated. Other additons include Lucy Lawless (Agent Isabelle Hartley), Reed Diamond (Daniel Whitehall), Nick Blood (Lance Hunter), Henry Simmons (Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie), and Kyle MacLachlan (Skye's father), alongside the returning cast of Clark Gregg (Director Coulson), Ming-Na Wen (Agent May), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), Elizabeth Henstridge (Agent Simmons), Iain De Caestecker (Agent Fitz), and Chloe Bennet (Agent Skye).
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres Tuesday, September 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
