Things are moving right along at CBS as casting has begun for the latest superhero television adaption, Supergirl. Superman's cousin is getting her own live-action show joining the comic book television landscape that already features Arrow, The Flash, Constantine and Gotham. All are DC Comics properties and their plan to rule the airwaves isn't complete without a Kryptonian in the mix. But who's going to don the cape and crop top?
TVLine has the details as to what main characters they're looking for and how they relate to each other. Of course the first one is their lead, Kara Zor-El or Kara Danvers as she's known on earth. Her story is much like Superman's in that she was sent to earth by her parents in order to flee from the dying planet of Krypton. She arrived at age 12 and was taken in by the Danvers. Being protective foster parents they encouraged her to suppress her powers until ten years later during a cataclysmic event she is forced to spring into action. Newly energized by her powers and ability to help others she becomes a hero.
The casting call is for a Caucasian female, age 22 to age 26, who can play 24.
The other role being sought is for Kara's beautiful and brilliant 26-year old foster sister, Alexandra "Alex" Danvers. Initially jealous of her powers, Alex develops her scientific mind to better understand where Kara came from and later joins a secret government organization. They collaborate to help save humanity from whatever threats may appear.
The show's casting and producing is in good hands. The creator of Arrow and The Flash on the CW, Greg Berlanti, is executive producing with Ali Adler and the same casting source will find the female Stephen Amell or Grant Gustin for CBS.
Awesomeness! I have high hopes for this, too!
