Morena Baccarin joins Gotham as Dr. Leslie Thompkins

We've always yearned for Firefly alum, Morena Baccarin, to join the DC Comics live-action universe for years and years. She's done stellar work as a voice actress on animated projects like "Justice League" and "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" but now she'll be on camera as Dr. Leslie Thompkins as a recurring character on Fox's Gotham. 

She may not be Catwoman or Wonder Woman as we'd hoped she'd play years ago she will play a crucial part in helping the citizens and criminally insane of Gotham.

 Thompkins is a gifted and dedicated physician who was a friend of the late Thomas and Martha Wayne. She is determined to use her skills to aid Gotham’s most in need, which currently means working at the newly opened Arkham Asylum’s Home for the Criminally Insane.

In the comics she was one of the few that knew Bruce Wayne's secret identity and patched up many of the Bat-family while running a clinic. This will be years before any of that but she will be drawn close to Jim Gordon in what could mean some sparks and danger for the straight-laced detective.

Baccarin's arc will begin in 2015.  Gotham airs Mondays at 8pm on Fox.
