REVIEW: Witchblade #178 by Ron Marz and Laura Braga

Sara Pezzini doesn’t get the attention she deserves. With Witchblade #178 she continues to exemplify what a strong female hero is all about. Even in the face of extreme danger she’s cool, calm and cunning. What more could you ask for? Ron Marz has a genuine affection for her and places her in the best situations to allow to shine. As a reader you can’t help but root for her and cheer her on as she battles evil of every kind.

Marz should also thank artist Laura Braga every day for the amazing work she does to bring Pezzini to life. Her line work, the layouts are all in top form. And they should both take Betsy Gonia out for dinner at least for providing some of the best color work in comics. The action is elevated, deeper, richer and more provocative with the vibrant colors at her disposal.

Issue #178 is an action-packed book that is smart, exciting and gorgeous. Do yourself a favor and pick this up and add Witchblade to your pull list if you haven’t already.
