COMIC BOOK DAY: Notable New Releases (11/5)

New Comics 11/5 by Slidely Slideshow

This might be one of the most eclectic weeks of comics in recent memory. There's fantasy, horror, sci-fi, supernatural western, spy thriller, post-apocalyptic drama and whatever the hell Punks is. There's even an ape-biker gang exploitation genre series. Yes, you read that right.

Keenan Marshall Keller and Tom Neely have created The Humans #1 for Image and they've mashed-up Planet of the Apes with Easy Rider and it's as crazy as you imagine with it's soul squarely in the era of the 1970's exploitation cinema. It's strictly for mature readers.

Ron Marz has a couple of significant titles - one concluding its run and another one just starting - Artifacts brings the veteran writer back to close out the book he helped start and John Carter: Warlord of Mars #1 returns with an officially licensed series from the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate.

In trade paperbacks there are some notable releases. Day Men by Matt Gagnon and Michael Alan Nelson collects the first arc of the stylish crime vampire thriller and you get 128 pages for only $9.99. The Wake by Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy is the kind of underwater sci-fi thriller James Cameron would film. The limited series is collected and a guaranteed good read.

Check out the other sure bets this week:
