With all the comic book movie news of late it's easy to forget that Guillermo del Toro is trying to get another DC Comics' property to the big screen. Justice League: Dark comic book series features the supernatural and magical heroes of the DC universe which is a theme the busy director is very well versed in. Now it looks like the script is done and in the hands of Warner Bros to decide if it moves forward.
Forbes got the scoop straight from the director's mouth during an interview for his FX thriller, The Strain. Del Toro is known to have multiple projects in the works at any given time with details being scarce. This latest development is a welcomed surprise considering that WB had released an entire slate of comic book movies through 2020 but did not include the tentatively titled Dark Universe. It is not expected to be connected with the other movies like Wonder Woman, Justice League or Batman V Superman.
It will not share the same universe as the excellent television version of JLD member John Constantine from NBC's Constantine either.
Hopefully, the studio will deem the script worthy to greenlight pre-production and perhaps we'll see besides Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, the Changing Man and Zantanna in theaters soon.
