UPDATE: Two more names have been added to the list of actors vying for the titular roles of 'Jessica Jones' and 'Luke Cage' in Marvel/Netflix's superhero series. Marin Ireland (The Divide) and Cleo Anthony (Divergent) will reportedly be testing also as reported by Deadline.
Marvel has started auditioning actors for their Netflix Defenders solo series, 'Jessica Jones' and 'Luke Cage'. Names being tested for 'Jones' are Krysten Ritter (Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23, Breaking Bad), Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson, True Detective, New Girl), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies, I Am Number 4) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow, Dracula).
Deadline describes the 'Jones' 13-episode series as "a superhero suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes." It is the second of four Marvel superhero shows that will appear in consecutive years before teaming them up Avengers-style in one big miniseries.
Longtime fan-favorite 'Luke Cage' has only two contenders so far in Lance Gross (Crisis, House of Payne) and Mike Colter (The Good Wife, The Following). Cage will appear in 6-7 episodes of 'Jones' before headlining his own series, the fourth in the deal with Netflix, along with other Hell's Kitchen inhabitants, Daredevil and Iron Fist.
