Hot Young Actors Vying for Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

A new year brings rumors of a whole new batch of promising young actors vying for comic book movie roles. The word from Latino Review is that Brian Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse is looking for Hollywood's brightest young stars to fill the roles of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm.

There was a long list of popular hopefuls rumored to be testing for those roles last year, but now it looks like the focus has turned to these fine contenders to test.

CYCLOPS

TARON EGERTON - About to blow up with a co-starring role alongside Colin Firth in Matthew Vaughn's comic book adaptation, Kingsmen: The Secret Service.

JAMIE BLACKLEY - He's been consistently working in film with parts in Snow White and the Huntsman, The Fifth Estate and last year's If I Stay. He's got two more films coming out this year, including a Woody Allen picture.

TYE SHERIDAN - A dark horse here and only American on the list is in great demand. He's got seven projects either completed, in post-production or in pre-production in 2015 alone. With roles in Mud, Joe and Tree of Life he certainly has indie-cred but little name recognition. Regardless, he'll be okay even without a role in Apocalypse.

JEAN GREY

SOPHIE TURNER - Best known as Sansa Stark on HBO's mega-hit Game of Thrones, Turner is a known commodity and could be ready to join another ensemble cast on the big screen this time.

SAOIRSE RONAN - We'd put our money on Ronan as she has more roles to her name and was tremendous in Hanna as a trained teen assassin.

STORM

ZENDAYA - A staple on the Disney Channel for years, the talented actress, singer and dancer is certainly versatile enough to become the iconic white-haired weather-controlling mutant.

ALEXANDRA SHIPP - Shipp is another talented actress/singer with a history of TV roles who recently portrayed Aaliyah in a widely panned biopic. She's in another biopic coming this summer that follows the rise of rap legends N.W.A. entitled Straight Outta Compton

Filming begins in April so a decision should be coming soon. X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to open May 27, 2016.
