'Supergirl' Just Cast the Hottest 'Jimmy Olsen' in History

Now that Supergirl herself has been cast, CBS is moving along with the rest of the players in the DC Comics adaptation. Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness, True Blood) has been cast as one of Superman's most famous pals in photographer Jimmy Olsen. This version of Olsen will play opposite Melissa Benoist's Kara Zor-El, who came to earth to escape the destruction of the planet Krypton. 

Brooks' Olsen is a photographer at CatCo where Kara works. He recently lived and worked in National City but the reason is unknown. The two grow close as Kara develops a crush on him. Brooks is expected to be her love interest as Kara begins to embrace her super powers. 

Traditionally, Jimmy Olsen was a staple in cousin Superman's comic books where the young photog worshipped Clark Kent and Lois Lane. The role has been played by several actors in TV and film.

Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Flash) and Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family, The New Normal) will write the script and executive produce the drama under Berlanti Productions' Warner Bros. Television-based banner.
