Slidely Slideshow
It’s comic book day and this week has an eclectic mix of titles to choose from including some excellent trade paperbacks to binge on. This week is indie-heavy and that means original creative works you won’t find from the Big Two. That’s not to say the big guys don’t have some good reads this week. In fact, Marvel has a blockbuster franchise with Star Wars and Darth Vader #1 is sure to sell out. Everyone’s favorite jester, Harley Quinn has her own Valentine’s Day Special from DC Comics out today. Check out some of this week’s debuts and exciting ongoing series.
Here are some notable #1 issues coming out Wednesday: Legenderry: Red Sonja by Marc Andreyko, Darth Vader #1 by Kieron Gillen, The Empty by Jimmie Robinson, Harley Quinn: Valentine’s Day Special, The Divinity by Matt Kindt and Princeless: The Pirate Princess by Jeremy Whitley.
Great ongoing series available Wednesday: Brides of Helheim #4, Secret Six #2, X-Men #24, Five Ghosts #15, Southern Bastards #7, The Walking Dead #137, and Witchblade #180.
There’s lots more out today so whatever you’re into get it at your local comic book and support a local business. Unless they’re jerks in which case shop online at most publisher’s website and Comixology.
Happy reading!

Volume 1 - 1st printing. Written by Warren Ellis. Art and cover by Jason Howard. Ten years after they landed. All over the world. Ten years since we learned that there is intelligent life in the universe, but that they did not recognize us as intelligent or alive. TREES, a new science fiction novel by WARREN ELLIS (Transmetropolitan, Red) and JASON HOWARD (SUPER DINOSAUR, ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN), looks at a near-future world where life goes on in the shadows of the Trees: in China, where a young painter arrives in the "special cultural zone" of a city under a Tree; in Italy, where a young woman under the menacing protection of a fascist gang meets an old man who wants to teach her terrible skills; and in Svalbard, where a research team is discovering, by accident, that the Trees may not be dormant after all, and the awful threat they truly represent.
