REVIEW: 'Rat Queens' #10 by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Stjepan Sejic

It's all hands on deck when the Rat Queens try to stop Gerrig and his minions including some gigantic squid monsters from the sky. They're racing against time to save Sawyer too in the most action-packed issue of Rat Queens ever!

Rat Queens #10 by Kurtis Wiebe and Stjepan Sejic is an epic swashbuckling issue that brings out everyone from Braga to the Daves in defending Palisade from the Spawn of N'Rygoth. Hannah especially shines as her mage powers are in full display as she kicks butt along with her fellow maidens. It's a death-defying feat of bravery going through a gauntlet of arrows and monsters for our heroines.

Interspersed through the issue are scenes from more romantic quiet times between Hannah and Sawyer that add some depth to their relationship and gives some weight to what they mean to each other. It makes Sawyer's predicament even more precarious as he's tied to a cross while the world falls apart around him. It's up to everyone, friend or rival, to fight off the supernatural forces brought on by the demented Gerrig.

I'm still getting used to Sejic's wonderful take on the Rat Queens world. Not because it's bad in any way just different. He has his own flair but is no stranger to fantasy and it shows in everything he does. From a scene as sweet as the one between Dave and Violet to the horrific monsters that hover in the sky, Sejic can do it all. The series hasn't lost a step and in this issue both Sejic and Wiebe get to flex their muscles a little in a cinematic fashion.

Rat Queens #10 provides wall-to-wall action without sacrificing the chemistry and camaraderie of the maidens. It's still one of the best fantasy adventure comics available and this issue shows you why.
