5 Things We Want to See From 'Sleepy Hollow' Season 3

After a brilliant rookie season we thought season two would build on the superior chemistry between leads Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison and continue being the fun and eerie supernatural drama we love. Unfortunately, 'Sleepy Hollow' inexplicably wasted the goodwill and patience of fans by being wildly inconsistent, unnecessarily convoluted and stopped being fun. It would have surprised no one if Fox had canceled the show. Instead, it was renewed for a season three with promises from the network that the show would be revamped. We've got our fingers crossed, but there are a few things we'd like to see next season. 

With the departure of Katia Winter (Katrina Crane, dead), John Noble (Henry Parrish, dead), and Orlando Jones (Frank Irving, back from the dead and moving on) new showrunner Clifton Campbell (The Glades) has been busy adding new cast members. 

Let's start with new season regular Shannyn Sossamon (Wayward Pines) who'll play Pandora. She's a "mysterious" woman who'll seek help from Lt. Abbie Mills (Beharie) and Ichabod Crane (Mison). We really hope this is Pandora from Greek mythology who released all the evils of the world from her box. It would certainly provide an interesting supernatural arc for the entire season.

Another new regular is Nikki Reed (Twilight) who'll play Betsy Ross, the legendary seamstress who made the nation's first flag, and also had a fling with Crane back in the day. She's also a spy for George Washington described as "sexy with unexpected physical prowess" whatever that means. 

The latest addition is Lance Gross (Crisis) who'll play Abbie's newest boss FBI agent Daniel Reynolds. This leaves in question the role of Sheriff Leena Reyes played by Sakina Jaffrey. Will she still be involved or has the show's restructuring phased her out?

'Sleepy Hollow' has added some more talented beautiful people but is it enough? Let us make some suggestions:

1. Stick with the core characters - Season two found Abbie and Ichabod spending time apart and supporting players Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) and Capt. Irving also on separate adventures. The strength of the show is in the chemistry of the leads but also of the four as a team. With Irving gone someone else will have to take his spot but the last thing we want to see is Jenny M.I.A. for another extended period of time. Having Abbie's strong and capable sister as an ally makes the team more formidable and adds depth to the show. The addition of Hawley (Matt Barr) always seemed forced and more distraction than helpful. 
2. Keep Ichabbie platonic - As much as we love the prospect of Ichabod and Abbie being a romantic couple it would certainly ruin the show just as it had in countless other shows. So stop with the "will they/won't they" the writers keep playing with viewers. Even when Katrina was in the picture there were allusions to it that just felt wrong. They make great partners and friends with genuinely funny and endearing conversations. We'd hate to see that change just so they can be shipped together. 
3. Shorten the season - They say you can't have too much of a good thing. When you're trying to recapture the magic of the first 13-episode season with another 18-episode like the problematic season two I'd say it's five too many. A tighter plotted shorter season could help keep the storytelling better focused and less chances of characters getting trapped in purgatory, institutionalized or killed just to be resurrected later. 
4. A better villain - Moloch started as a pretty evil and menacing villain that hung over the series. Unfortunately, he talked a lot about the end of times and frankly just talked a lot. The headless horseman proved to be an interesting instrument of terror but quickly lost his bite. The whole drama with Katrina and Abraham was ill-conceived and poor John Noble as Henry Parrish aka Jeremy Crane spun his wheels and ultimately betrayed all his doomsaying by saving Ichabod and Abbie in the end. Season 3 deserves a clear force of evil that walks the walk. A villain that is truly formidable and fully developed. One that will follow through and be a worthy opponent for our set of heroes. 
5. Bring back John Cho - Cho just makes everything better.
