The closest we'll ever get, probably, to superheroes in real life is through the great work of cosplayers. You see them at every pop culture convention from the very basic to extremely elaborate costume design. However, you don't have to be a cosplayer to enjoy dressing up as your favorite superhero from time to time. Take fitness model and entrepreneur Gia Macool for example. An accomplished fitness competitor and model, Macool is also a big fan of DC Comics' Wonder Woman. She shows her love of the iconic Amazon Princess in her fitness wear, meal prep accessories and even a full blown photo shoot in a Wonder Woman costume.
For decades comics have featured very muscular superheroes, male and female, epitomizing the human form at its strongest. So when bodybuilders and fitness pros decide to suit up as these costumed heroes, they are the embodiment of those fictional characters in the flesh. Macool looks like she stepped out of the pages of a Wonder Woman comic with a suit that resembles the classic swimsuit uniform Diana Prince wore for a majority of her 75 years since being created by William Marston.
Thanks to her sponsor Goldman Productions, Macool with bracelets, tiara, and boots, rocked killer superhero poses in a fun and sexy photo shoot as Wonder Woman. The timing couldn't be better as Wonder Woman is finally going to make her big screen live-action debut in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice film premiering on March 25, 2016, and played by Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious). She'll also have her own solo film, Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and co-starring Chris Pine to be released on June 23, 2017.
When the stunningly fit and gorgeous Florida-native isn't modeling or firing an AR-15 at a range, she's working out and overlooking her fashion site, GiaMacool.com. She offers custom designed bandage dresses, swimwear, accessories and fitness information. She's also dispensing positivity, inspiration, and advice all over social media. You can find her on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
On her fitness philosophy:
I workout because I want to keep my body healthy, strong and functioning properly. I'm not the most muscular, shredded, or lean...and that's ok! I refuse to take dangerous shortcuts, fad diets, drugs, or unnecessary supplements to get there because what's more important is my health.
I don't do 2 hours of cardio daily to get lean. Instead I focus on clean foods and carbs centered around my training. A more balanced approach to cardio such as 3-4 days a week with small increments of 30-45 min of interval training.
Rest is so important! Something I put as a priority. When I lift, I lift heavy enough for "my body" safely without injury. I don't pay attention to what others do and I'm not in competition with anyone. I listen to my body!
I don't completely restrict food groups. Instead I believe in moderation and balance. Your body needs carbs & fats for brain function, healthy skin, and hair so restricting food only will hurt you mentally and physically. Instead learning a healthy relationship with foods...using them as fuel and understand "when" and "where" they are to be used is a more beneficial approach.
At the end of the day the most important thing is your health and happiness...that shines above every other superficial thing out there so do what is healthy for your body not what is a short term fix.

On what it takes to get those much sought after abs of steel:
The abs are NOT made up of one muscle. Rather, they are made up of different muscles that need different exercises to isolate and improve them. While the rectus abdominis muscle responds to strengthening by developing outward, the transverse abdominis muscle develops inward and is similar to wearing a Spanx girdle for the abdominal muscles!
With a low body fat percentage you will be able to see development. 👇🏻
Eat a well-balanced diet for your body-type
Participate in physical activities 4-5 days per week.
Consistently train your entire body, not just one part. Remember, you cannot spot train!
This exercise above along with reducing the amount of time I "waist train" and staying away from "weighted oblique" exercises has helped to keep my waist defined and tiny.
