REVIEW: 'The Hunt' #4 by Colin Lorimer, Joana Lafuente, and Jim Campbell

'The Hunt' takes a major leap forward in the story that makes the slow burn to this point well worth the wait. In fact, it's' such a transitional moment that I can't give it away. I will say though that Orla and Granny are more powerful than they led on and the result is an explosive issue that satisfies. 

With Ollie still in the clutches of the Sluagh, Orla takes matters into her own hands that could prove deadly if she fails. Colin Lorimer's supernatural tale of magic and death based on Irish mythology comes full circle in issue four, resulting in an unexpected showdown that might save Ollie in time. Orla is determined to save her brother with a little help from her grandmother. 

Lorimer has delivered an intriguing story that really opens up this Otherworld he's built full of high stakes and devilish twists. The cliffhanger will shock you keeping this freight train of suspense rolling. Lorimer also does the art with colors from Joana Lafuente. They combine to make a beautifully laid out sequence of events that are surprisingly light and bright as it takes place during the day. Yet, through Lafuente's bold splashes of color especially during the confrontation, gives the story the magical touch it deserves. Not enough can be said about Jim Campbell's excellent lettering that gives the soul harvesters a menacing pattern of speech bubbles.

'The Hunt' pays off in issue four where Orla lets loose and embraces her power. Readers are rewarded with some pushback against the Sluagh, ratcheting up the suspense and action as the first arc continues to build into a crescendo. 'The Hunt' has found its footing and is delivering in spades.
