Teen 'Titans' Live-Action Series and Season 3 of 'Young Justice' Are Coming to DC's Digital Service

Warner Bros Television and DC Entertainment are getting into the streaming business. In order to entice and excite fans, they're producing a live-action 'Titans' series and a new season of 'Young Justice' exclusively for the service.

The announcement came Monday as this new direct-to-consumer digital service is slated for 2018 designed for DC fans and promises to "deliver an immersive experience."

The all-new live-action series"Titans" will be written by Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery), Geoff Johns (President & Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment; The Flash, Arrow) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl). Goldsman, Johns, Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are executive producers.

“Titans” follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. “Titans” is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.

After some false starts in the past, it looks like a Teen Titans series is finally getting made. It'll be interesting to see how the use of Dick Grayson will affect the DCEU at large. WB seems to keep their TV and movie universes separate as evidenced by having two different actors portray Superman and The Flash for example. We could see a different Dick in upcoming films like Joss Whedon's planned 'Batgirl' feature. He's traditionally her love interest.

Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!), Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood), Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels) are producers of 'Young Justice: Outsiders' along with Warner Bros. Animation. Emmy Award winner Phil Bourassa (Young Justice, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract) serves as the series’ art director.

In “Young Justice: Outsiders,” the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of super-powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. In the highly anticipated new season, the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy. Equally praised by critics and viewers for its impressive visuals and rich storytelling, “Young Justice” reached more than 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons on Cartoon Network. This passionate fan support set the stage for the new third season.

DC admits the public outcry for a third season of 'Young Justice' was a catalyst in producing "Outsiders," proving that sometimes loyal fandom can make a difference.

Expect both 'Titans' and 'Young Justice: Outsider' to debut on DC's digital service sometime in 2018.
