Look, I know you've heard this before but there really is going to be a show based on DC Comics'
Teen Titans. While the proposed series at TNT didn't pan out, DC has promised to make 'Titans' part of their upcoming
streaming service launch in 2018. To prove they're serious they've enlisted the help from some seasoned professionals who know a thing or two about comic book shows.
The all-new live-action series"Titans" will be written by Akiva Goldsman (
Star Trek: Discovery), Geoff Johns (President & Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment;
The Flash, Arrow) and Greg Berlanti (
Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl). Goldsman, Johns, Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are executive producers.
According to
CBR, there are indications that shooting will be starting this fall.
Not only have we been given firm details regarding the series’ cast and creators, a job posting on My Entertainment World indicates principle shooting on Titans will begin on September 25 in Atlanta, GA.
They also confirm that the team members chosen so far are Dick Grayson, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy. The show is described as "a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe...'Titans' is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever."
No cast or release date has been announced yet. After some false starts in the past, it looks like a Teen Titans series is finally getting made. It'll be interesting to see how the use of Dick Grayson will affect the DCEU at large. WB seems to keep their TV and movie universes separate as evidenced by having two different actors portray Superman and The Flash for example. We could see a different Dick in upcoming films like Joss Whedon's planned 'Batgirl' feature. He's traditionally her love interest.
The series will air on Warner Bros’ new DC Comics-branded digital platform that will launch in 2018.
