TRAILER: Marvel's 'Runaways' Could Be Hulu's Superpowered 'Riverdale'
Every teenager thinks their parents are evil, what if they actually are? Check out this early look at 'Marvel' s Runaways' exclusively on Hulu.
In the midst of New York Comic-Con, Hulu released the first trailer for Marvel's latest comic book adaptation series. Created for Hulu by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, 'Runaways' is based on the 2003 comic series of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona.
As far as teen dramas go, CW's darker reimagined Archie Comics characters in 'Riverdale' has made the show a hit and its good-looking cast into stars. The same might be in store for the stars of 'Runaways' whose parents, like those on 'Riverdale,' have some dark secrets of their own. It just so happens they're supervillains and the kids must put aside their differences to come together and face their parents.
Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, and Allegra Acosta star as the Runaways, six teenagers from different backgrounds who unite against their parents, the Pride, portrayed by Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Brittany Ishibashi, James Yaegashi, Kevin Weisman, Brigid Brannagh, Annie Wersching, Kip Pardue, James Marsters, and Ever Carradine.
A film from Marvel Studios based on the Runaways began development in May 2008, before being shelved in 2013 due to the success of The Avengers. In August 2016, Marvel Television announced that Runaways had received a pilot order from Hulu, after being developed and written by Schwartz and Savage.
The series, consisting of 10 episodes, will premiere on November 21, 2017.
After discovering their parents are super-villains in disguise, a group of teenagers band together to run away from their homes in order to atone for their parents' actions and to discover the secrets of their origins.
