When we last left our heroes(?), the Bad Elvis Gang had taken over Emily's wedding ceremony to Jesse and now the law is right outside the chapel. The heist for the Heart of Dresden necklace valued at over $250 million dollars has gotten more complicated. It's missing, Gang leader Tom and Emily share a romantic past, her family is a dysfunctional mess and more than their captors can handle. It only gets more chaotic and funny in issue two as the Sheriff comes a-knocking.

David Pepose summons his inner Cohen Brother as this wacky heist job goes comically wrong. It's full of quirky characters, mostly in Emily's family, that generate some questionable decisions and funny moments. Tom as the mastermind behind this job is kind of a low-rent George Clooney in 'Out of Sight.' The question remains was this entire caper about stealing that necklace or reuniting with Emily before she marries someone else.

There's a flashback to when Jesse proposed to Emily that gives some background as to why she seems a little reluctant in the present day. He's a bit of a square but smart and sweet. She's still pissed at Tom for unceremoniously dumping her. Now she's Tom's hostage caught between him and the cops.

The art from Gavin Guidry and Liz Kramer is bright, clean, and expressive. It's almost cartoonish which adds a charming dimension to the characters' shenanigans. The facial expressions alone from the annoyed parents especially are hilarious. The colors really help to inform the story. The dry dusty landscape washed in soft beige hues perfectly represents the desert setting. The maroon tuxedos just yell cheap and dated. Penciller and colorist work hand-in-hand with just the right tone and storytelling using art alone.

'Going to the Chapel' #2 opens up this wacky caper with more background and quirky funny characters. Each issue so far has been fast-paced with unexpected turns which saves this heist-gone-wrong homage from feeling all-too-familiar. There's some clever subversive commentary on the reliance on social media but it's really just a fun crime comedy that frankly keeps you wanting more.
